Unix Training Bootcamp

Thanks to everyone who attended or expressed interest in our first Hacker Within Software Carpentry Bootcamp on Jan. 12-15 in CAE 175. Registration for the event reached the capacity of the lab, and we unfortunately had to turn others away.

The 18 student participants represented following departments (and advisors):

Biomedical Engineering (Block) Electrical and Computer Engineering (Hagness) Engineering Physics (Wilson, Corradini) Medical Physics (Hall, Mackie, Chen) Geography (Ozdogan, Burt) Geology & Geophysics (Carlson) Neuroscience (Meyerand) Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences (McKinley)

Here are the notes from the event--feel free to pass them on to any interested parties:

Day 1: The Command Shell

Day 2: Your Environment

Day 3: Regular Expressions

Day 4: Building Software

Thanks to Rob Kohlhepp and CAE for providing the lab facilities and access to the students participating in the program.
